Franchising takes flight

Desire for self-entrepreneurship

On the one hand there are companies and brands known (franchisor), other entrepreneurs (franchisees).

This combination has given life to a sector that invests, in Italy alone, over 24 billion euros

The Italian franchise flies.

This is supported by data from the latest Report by the Federfranchising Confesercenti Observatory, released during the 2018 annual meeting: a successful business formula, which in 2017 generated total revenues of 24.2 billion euros (+ 0.9%) compared to 2016).

Results obtained thanks to the expansion of the network in Italy: the active franchisors (in practice, companies) in 2017 were 977 (+ 2.7%) and franchisees affiliated (entrepreneurs) reached 51,260 (+ 1%).

Young entrepreneurs grow up

Furthermore, the franchising sector seems to be a true Italian excellence, capable of attracting young people’s interest.

Indeed, it is often the new generations who decide to start a business in the world of affiliate commerce.

Every year more and more: there are more or less 150 thousand young people aged 25 to 25 who are focusing on franchising, as revealed by a survey by the Centro Studi of the Milan Franchising Show (SFM), the national trade fair held last year October.

The main motivation of these young entrepreneurs is the desire for self-entrepreneurship (53%), followed by the aspiration to obtain an economic satisfaction (49%) by entering a sector that ensures a high turnover, and trust in the modern distribution system (25%).

Only 6% are driven by difficulties in finding a permanent job.

The commercial sectors that most interest young people are mainly food (31.5%), fashion and clothing (30%) and articles for the person (12.5%).

About 60% of young people interviewed said that trust in the sector derives from the consideration that this is a formula able to reduce business risk thanks to the presence of a franchisor who, together with the brand, offers its know-how, the assistance, advertising and other services.
