Sardinia, after the Marches, will host the next edition of the Italo Arabian International Business Exchange. The appointment is in Cagliari on Friday 15 December (4.30 pm, opening conference at the Conference Hall of the Sardinia Foundation) and Saturday 16 December (from 9 am to 7 pm for seminars and business meetings between Italian and Arab companies in the prestigious setting of the Villa Atzeri).

Now in its fifth edition, the event, with its mixed model of BtoB meetings (export and incoming) and thematic seminars, has become a national model within a few years. Indeed, there are numerous Regions that have applied to host this international event. The Exchange is an event conceived and realized exclusively by the Italian-Arab Chamber of Cooperation at the national level. The purpose of the event is to start negotiations of a commercial nature between the production system of Sardinia and the Arab companies interested in importing products, services, knowledge, technologies and, in general, the best that “Made in Italy” offers in the world, with its brands and its quality.

The Fifth Exchange will be attended by 20 Sardinian companies, directly invited by the Italian Arab Cooperation Chamber with a Gold Card, and by 8 companies from Arab countries (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Egypt). The reference sectors of this edition are Agriolimentare and Cosmesi.

The event will be organized on two main levels:

a) convention / seminar;

b) commercial with BtoB meetings between Italian and Arab companies.

The central theme of the Exchange is “Italy and the challenge of foreign markets: Sardinia in the processes of internationalization of companies”. The sub-theme, which is also the title of the opening conference, is: “The Mediterranean as a crossroads for new relations between Europe and the Arab countries”. Friday, December 15, at 16.30, in Cagliari will compare authoritative speakers from the Arab and Italian world. Among the participants stands the name of the President of CESPI – Piero Fassino Center for International Political Studies. The mayor of Cagliari, Massimo Zedda, and the Regional Councilor for Industry, Maria Grazia Piras, also spoke.

The seminars (16 December, Villa Atzeri) addressed to companies will be two: 1) Internationalization: incentives for businesses (9.15) 2) Halal certification and potential of Islamic markets (12.30).

The participation of Stefano Mameli (Secretary of Confartiginato Sardegna), Annamaria Tiozzo (president of WHAD) and Massimo Castangia (Araform Agency) is expected. Also in the morning of Saturday (11.00) there will be a business meeting that will compare the industrial system of Sardinia with the Arab operators. Aldo Berlinguer (Full Professor of Comparative Private Law at the University of Cagliari) and Luigi Pulina (Director of the Industrial Consortium of the Province of Sassari) will take part, among others.

In addition, for the duration of the exchange, the service desks of the Italo Araba Cooperation Chamber, NAME Consulting and Primaidea s.r.l. on:

1. Calls for the internationalization of enterprises (regional and national); 2. Business information on Arab markets, Chamber services and business assistance

in the processes of internationalization.

BtoB Meetings (Saturday 16 December, from 9 am to 19 pm – Villa Atzeri)

In order to allow entrepreneurs to deal with specific issues, with the main objective of exporting Sardinian companies’ products and services to different Arab markets, BtoB meetings are organized between local and Arab companies. Sardinian companies will be provided with a card to participate in the commercial activities of the Mercato Market and to meet in a confidential way the Arab buyers for the promotion of their companies, products and services in the reference countries. To this end, rooms will be set up, for reference sectors or macro areas, where meetings will take place on the basis of a calendar prepared by the offices of the Italo Arab Chamber.
